Centre for Young People

Dancing at the silent disco, rocking the stage at a slam, burning off energy together in sports activities, striking up conversations in the café, engaging in exciting discussions, or experiencing concerts, devotions, and worship services – the Centre for Young People thrives on young people bringing their ideas and spirituality to the table.
For three days, groups, congregations, associations, and initiatives from Düsseldorf, the region of the Protestant Church in the Rhineland, Germany, and around the world will shape a diverse, open, and inspiring programme. And one thing is certain: The 2027 German Protestant Kirchentag will be an unforgettable experience for young people!
That’s why we’re looking for your ideas, activities, and projects - offerings that are fun, thought-provoking, spark conversation, or simply invite everyone to unwind together. There are virtually no limits to your creativity:
Whether it’s experimental or creative activities, culture, politics, sports, music, cafés, discussion formats, or workshops – everything is welcome. We’re especially looking for activities tailored to confirmands, youth, teens, and young adults who don’t fit into any box.
In terms of content, we welcome contributions that engage and inspire young people—topics they care about and about which they have something to say or ask.
Focus: “young & international”
A special highlight in Düsseldorf is the regional church project “young & international.” Here, we are specifically looking for activities that bring international perspectives, foster encounters, and bring together young people from different countries. Groups from global partnerships, international initiatives, and multilingual formats are expressly invited. New, creative ideas that don’t fit into any (linguistic) box are also welcome.
Shaping the future together – with young people from all over the world
We envision a centre where young people aged 13 and older from diverse backgrounds actively help shape the experience – not just as guests, but as programme creators. We are particularly excited about offerings where young people are directly involved in planning and implementation, as well as ecumenical, interfaith, and international collaborations.
The Centre for Young People is guided by the motto “You are precious” (Isaiah 43:4). We are looking for initiatives that bring this attitude to life – ideally through joint projects involving multiple groups.
Apply with an existing project or a new idea—we look forward to your submissions!

Costs
The Kirchentag thrives on the people who volunteer to help shape its programme. All participants who contribute to the overall programme of the Kirchentag are considered contributors. As a thank you for your commitment, you will have the opportunity to attend the Kirchentag at a significantly reduced rate. After registration, you will therefore be able to purchase a contributor pass for each group member at 33 euros per person (expected to include a pass for Düsseldorf’s public transport). This is significantly discounted compared to the standard 5-day ticket and grants access to all Kirchentag events.
